Matthew's Journey
In January 2024, Matthew Sweet launched EcoMow Sustainable Gardening with a vision to champion "treading lightly upon the earth by nourishing the soil and using quieter and lower emissions equipment." Drawing on over 30 years of experience as a digital IT specialist and successful business owner, Matthew brought a unique problem-solving mindset to garden care.
Within just two months, by March 2024, Matthew had established EcoMow on HiPages and began building a reputation for tackling challenging garden restoration projects. His investment in premium commercial equipment—including the full range of Kress electric tools with revolutionary 8-minute charging technology and a Bobcat ZS2000 36" commercial zero-turn mower—enables him to handle everything from delicate garden maintenance to heavy-duty property clearances.
Matthew's approach combines the efficiency and customer service excellence learned from three decades in digital business and customer service with a genuine passion for sustainable gardening. "Customer service is my number one focus," Matthew explains. "Everything I do is designed to deliver more value to my clients than they give back to me." This commitment shows in the results: over 350 garden restoration and maintenance jobs successfully completed in the last financial year, with dozens of satisfied clients across the Logan area.
Matthew's journey has been deeply supported by his wife, Dr Sarah Sweet, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland whose astrophysics research focuses on galaxy formation and evolution. Over the past 15 years, Matthew has been devoted to supporting Sarah's academic career as they travelled interstate for her postdoctoral fellowships. Her research investigates the metallicities and kinematics of star-forming galaxies using advanced spectroscopy and high-resolution adaptive optics imaging to trace galactic evolution across cosmic time.
